As early as Antiquity, in Asia, artisans developed a technique for covering silk threads with fine gold leaf. These threads became a symbol of wealth and power in Egypt and later in the great empires of India, Persia, and Rome. During the Renaissance, gold threads were used in home furnishings and trimmings. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, French haute couture embraced gold threads to add extra brilliance to its creations.
Founded in 1946 and acquired in the 1970s by the Franco-British group Sildorex, Lurex® sought to share its family heritage and make its exceptional expertise accessible through Maison Lurex. Today, the brand draws its inspiration from the materials themselves and its close collaboration with manufacturers to offer ever-expanding collections of ready-to-wear, jewelry, leather goods, and accessories in small batches.
By collaborating with Italian artisans, Maison Lurex has developed new Lurex® threads for its 925 sterling silver jewelry collections. Twisted, blended, and knitted, these threads give rise to unique, timeless pieces that are incredibly comfortable to wear thanks to their lightness. Various ranges of necklaces, bracelets, and earrings are now enriched with new collections such as Passion, Romance, and Lou, or Monika, Circus, and Serena.
As for accessories and leather goods, silk, cashmere, tweed, precious fabrics, and leather contribute to a beautiful collection of scarves, stoles, bags, and clutches. These are just some of the products, each with colors reimagined every season, sourced from Europe or made in France, and featuring iconic items like the Grace scarf and the Fenice and Baby Fenice bags.
With two collections a year, the ready-to-wear line continues to expand.
